The Geek Entitlement

In recent years it seems that the connotations the word geek or nerd held or stood for have really come to fruition. Now I am not trying to be judgmental or shortsighted at all. Culture shifts proves this scenario.

In the early years of this decade geekdome launched into films like X-Men, Spiderman and The Hulk. Studios, content creators, producers, directors and actors were no longer afraid to admit they read comics as kids and many began to lay claim they still enjoy reading comics as adults. Comics, comic books, graphic novels, short stories, COMIC CON. I mean the list goes on and on. Now not only have films filled the seats in the cinemas with material deriving from this printed medium. Geeks are also known to dabble with trinkets and doo-dats. Its factual that the tech industry has thrusted its efforts into a global commercialization of gadgets, cell phones, video games, mp3 players, DVD/Bluray, etc. just to name a few. All with intent to reach the masses. With every product and property released to the public one thing the creators and innovators probably never had the foresight to predict is that GEEKS would adopt these products and share their voice. And what a loud boisterous voice it is, (well maybe not boisterous it would be more like a sharp squeal or a non-threatening whisper) but the geek community certainly knows how to complain and dissect and annalise everything to the atomic level. Which gives way either to those who are annoyed by such behavior or there are those who listen attentively because it's clearly known that geeks have a sense of true entitlement.
